Czech archaeologists have unearthed an ancient funerary boat near the Abusir pyramids south of Cairo, officials said Monday, in a discovery that could shed light on shipbuilding in ancient Egypt.
The unusual discovery of the more than 4,500-year-old remains of the 18-metre-long (59-foot) wooden vessel, which archaeologists believe belonged to a prominent member of society, was made at the Abusir South cemetery, an antiquities ministry statement said.
The remains were found buried near the mastaba's southern wall, indicating the extraordinary social position of the owner of the tomb.
The boat's length and pottery found with it shows that it could be from the end of the third or beginning of the fourth dynasty, the ministry said.
This story goes back to 2001 when one of the world’s great secrets was revealed: an ancient structure that lay encased miles under the hard Antarctic ice was detected by a roving spy satellite.
It’s something that’s at least 12,000 years old, which is how long ice has covered Antarctica.
The US military immediately moved to quash the reports and despite the news blackout, reports still surfaced that a secretive excavation project had commenced on the heels of the discovery.
Following the frenzied events, of early 2001, the news broke of a mysterious medical emergency that forced an evacuation of unnamed personnel during the depths of the Antarctic winter–the first event of its kind during the dangerous South Pole winter season.
In November 2002, according to archaeologist and adventurer Jonathan Gray of World Education Research Ltd, a California TV crew went missing.
Supposedly, a video discovered among the crews’ personal effects by a special U.S. Navy SEAL rescue team tasked to find the filmmakers is the key element in a story that claims extensive ancient ruins have been found under the ice of Antarctica.
The TV production crew that shot the video is still missing, reported Gray.
Is it possible that the following structures have something to do with and are they connected to the supposed ancient structure under the ice?
Ancient Ruins?

Note: Entrance 2 is blacked out in the latest Google Earth version!
Furthermore, a strange unidentified object has been found not far away from the ancient ruins. The object in question seems to have weirdly shaped lines and it doesn’t look like a rock or fit anywhere in the surrounding landscape.

Elephantine is an island in the Nile River in southern Egypt.
The island may have received its name after its shape, which in aerial views is similar to that of an elephant tusk, or from the rounded rocks along the banks resembling elephants.
According to Egyptian mythology, here was the dwelling place of Khnum, the ram-headed god of the cataracts, who guarded and controlled the waters of the Nile from caves beneath the island.
But on this island there is a stone box made out of solid granite.
The dynastic Egyptians with their bronze tools could not have shaped it and thus it appears to be a remnant of a much older high tech culture.
Mars Express, the first planetary mission of the European Space Agency, was sent to the Red Planet in 2003. It sent a lander down to the surface, and although it failed to fully deploy, the orbiter has been taking amazing pictures.
One picture shows what seems to be a huge monolith on the bottom of a crater. This single upright block of stone could be an ancient monument or building.
It has right angles and nature doesn’t make right angles on its own.
Where did it come from and who put it there?
The Mars Express images, now released for general use, show besides the monolith, the dramatic landscapes of Mars, sculpted by ancient volcanoes, water flows, and the scouring action of dust storms in cinematic images in the following video.
A 5000 year-old aqueduct system has been uncovered in Borujerd in Lorestan Province Iran during construction work.
The discovered aqueduct system which includes a smart water distribution system used to be part of a historic castle.
According to news site Iranfrontpage, in the past, Borujerd had two layers of protection: the first one which included as many as 57 towers surrounded the entire town; the other one which had been built inside this area was around 280 hectares in area and was designed to protect the government castle. The government’s castle which was like a big garden inside the town had a well-designed water system.
Pottery crocks and clay pipes – called Tanpusheh in Farsi – were used in this system to transfer water. Big pottery vessels were applied for distributing water and removing mud from water. This could help minimize the risk of blockage in the flow of water. What stands out about this old system is its optimal use of water resources.
